| About Tir gan Ean House Hotel |
"Tir-gan-Ean" is one of Irelands premier boutique hotels, located in the village of Doolin on Irelands western Atlantic seashore. The village is on the southern edge of the Burren, in northwest County Clare.
The hotel has 12 beautifully designed bedrooms with it's own residence bar and restaurant.
Doolin is the most acclaimed Irish traditional music capital of the world, a boast that is not self-proclaimed, but one that has been awarded by the multitude of patrons, and by many references in the tunes, songs and stories of Co. Clare.
"Tir-gan-Ean" opened its doors in 2006 and with your comfort in mind has been designed to the very highest of 4 star standards our hotel offers you the very best in luxurious accommodations and the finest of dining and bar facilities. While music is the very core of Doolin it also boasts many other activities and leisure pastimes in the surrounding catchment area such as golfing, horse riding, walking, fishing, surfing, cycling, caving, abseiling, and scuba diving.
We are ideally located for the golfing enthusiast being only a short drive away from Lahinch with it's championship and it's Castle courses, the championship course is reckoned to be in the top 50 golf courses in the world, and the stunning Doonbeg. The Greg Norman designed course is only a 30-minute drive away.
When it's your time to leave us and return to your own country Shannon airport is about 1 hours drive away, so once again we are the ideally located hotel for your Irish vacation, to enable you to enjoy the "heart and the beat" of county Clare right here in the very centre of Doolin.
Our hotel is located on the southern edge of the awe inspiring Burren Region, with its lunar type landscape, while the majestic and towering 700 feet high Cliffs of Moher can even be seen from our own hotel grounds, and are only 5 miles away. The Gaelic speaking Aran islands are a short sea journey away by ferry from Doolin pier, and the spa town of Lisdoonvarna, with it's famous match making festival held each September, is only 4 miles away. The coastal towns of Lahinch, Spanish Point, Miltown Malbay and Kilkee, with the heritage town of Kilrush and the ferry port of Killimer are all to the south of Doolin and all are within an easy drive of our hotel. The town of Ballyvaughan can be reached by a drive along the coast road which takes in the beauty of Galway Bay and the ruggedness of the Burren at the same time, the contrast is such that you feel pity for the poor driver who has to keep both eyes on the road and keep a look out for the frequent passing coaches on their way to the Cliffs of Moher.
The coastal town of Kinvara is just a short distance beyond Ballyvaughan, and the beautifully restored Dunguaire Castle is on its outskirts where you can enjoy a medieval Irish Banquet or browse around their historical exhibition.
Galway city is located at the other side of Galway bay and again it is within an easy 1-hour driving distance. Galway is the city where you "shop until you drop".
