Matera is a word heritage site located in Basilicata region in South Italia.
It is famous for its prehistoric settlement (troglodyte) believed to be the first human settlements in Italy.
Matera features several monasteries and churches. Its cathedral was built during the 13th century.
Every year in June, the town host the “Festa della Madonna Bruna” an event not to be missed.
