| About Quinta do Monte |
| Located in the heart of the picturesque and historic leafy village of Monte, high above Funchal, and a few minutes walk to two tropical gardens, the famous church of Monte, the cable car terminal and to the start of the famous wickerwork toboggan run, this manor house belonged to a governor of Madeira and his family.
The original manor house has been beautifully restored and houses the extensive public areas, which include the hall and reception, reading room, lounge, bar and billiards room. These all feature the original wood flooring and are decorated in the tradition of Madeiran Quintas with elegant antique furniture and Persian carpets.
The dining room offers a rich à la carte menu and features a large conservatory area with stunning views of the gardens.
The interior heated pool is set amongst the high ground, offering maximum exposure to the sun, and is complemented by a Turkish bath, whirlpool and fitness room.
42 rooms and suites are spacious and very comfortable, overlook the gardens, hillside to Funchal and the sea, and have private bathroom, balcony, mini-bar, direct dial telephone, cable TV, safe, air conditioning and heating.
