Tallinn's old town has been listed as UNESCO world heritage in 1997. It features a well preserved medieval structure.
Tallinn is one of the best retained medieval towns in Europe with abundance of cobbled streets and 11th to 15th century houses.

Tallinn attractions:

  • Town Square: For centuries, it has been used as Tallinn's market place. It has also been a place of celebrations and executions before becoming the cultural point it is today. This square is particularly attractive in summer with its outdoor cafes, open air concerts and medieval markets.
  • Tallinn's Town Hall: First mentioned in 1322, it is the best preserved town hall in Northern Europe.
  • Town Hall Pharmacy is at least six centuries old. It stands at the corner of the Town Hall square. Town Hall Pharmacy has retained its original charm and no longer sells bat powder or snake skin but visitors can still find here some fine spiced claret famous since the Middle Ages.
  • The Great Guild Hall houses today the Estonia's history museum. It was built in 1407-1417 and was used as a gathering place for merchants.
  • House of brotherhood of black heads building was brought in the 16th century by the blacks heads. In 1597, the façade was redesigned with a profusion of ornaments.
