Braga is known as the Portuguese Rome due to its abundance of religious sites. Inhabitants are considered as very conservatives and the city has preserved all its traditions and culture.
Braga city walls construction was ordered by King Denis and achieved in 1373 during King Fernando reign. Only pieces of this wall remain including the gate, the tower of Saint James, the Tower of St Sebastian and the tower of the new gate.
