Once a charming 19th century farm cottage, Ballyvara House was a delightful Bed and Breakfast approved by the Irish Tourist Board and Town & Country Homes, which has been renovated once again and transformed into a stylish new Guesthouse. John Flanagan, the youngest of a family of six, inherited the cottage upon the death of his parents. John, a carpenter and builder by trade, used these skills and imaginative creativity to transform the cottage into Ballyvara House B&B in 1996, and re-opened the new establishment in May 2004 as the first rate accommodation it is today. The stone and timber of the original cottage were reincorporated into the house to retain the charm and character of times passed. Surrounded by 20 acres of green countryside this is the ideal place to stay for a relaxing visit to the West of Ireland.
With Shannon Airport one hour away and Doolin village only half a mile down the road you couldn't stay at a more ideal place to explore and enjoy the region. The majestic Cliffs of Moher are but 5kms away and the 100 sq mile Burren National Park is only a 10-minute drive. But of course, no trip to Doolin would be complete without a stop at one of the three pubs - famed for their traditional Irish music, food and great Guinness. Also nearby you can enjoy horseback riding, fishing, pitch and putt, golf, scenic walks and the ferry to the Aran Islands. The local restaurants serve exquisite food, especially the seafood, and suggestions of where to go and reservations can gladly be arranged.
