Baglio Locoforte is also an ideal location for excursions to the most important points of interest of Western Sicily. 13 km to the North is Trapani, housing its beautiful historic baroque style centre and the port to easily reach Egadi Islands
On the road to Trapani, called 'The Salt way', after around 9 km, one can see 'Le Saline' :
A marvellous setting of incredible colours for the break of the dawn and sunset, under custody of the WWF, characterised in certain periods of the year by the presence of rare migratory birds, such as fenicotteri and herons.
Marsala is also easy to reach (about 18 km from Baglio Locoforte) , a city evidently rich of Punic, Roman and Norman history, famous for its high quality esteemed wine and the archaeological site of Mozia ( around 8 km by boat).
Taking a splendid position over Trapani, at around 750 m. above sea level, often masked in silence by clouds of fog, is seated the small medieval village of Erice, with its antique circular wall fortification which still conserving its Norman Castle and Matrice Church.
Erice hosts important scientific meetings at the Ettore Maiorana center, organised by the controversial astrophysicist Antonino Zichichi.
To the North of Trapani lies a beautiful coast, which offers San Vito Lo Capo (50 km away from Baglio Locoforte), a popular seaside resort with a very long sandy bay and clear – crystal water.
